READ IT BECAUSE
Two Space Marine Chapters, one Space Hulk, thousands of genestealers and a dark secret hidden at the heart of it all… What do the Adeptus Mechanicus want with the Death of Integrity?

BLACK LIBRARY HALL OF FAME: FEBRUARY 2017
’’As I’ve long said to anyone whose asked, and as I’m now about to do for a whole bunch of people who haven’t, Guy Haley is up there with my favourite authors. Not just doing work for Black Library either. All authors. By now, I’ve probably ready pretty much everything with his name on it, but Death of Integrity was the first and wow, what a book. It’s the perfect Warhammer 40,000 novel. More than that though, it’s the most ‘’40K’’ Warhammer 40,000 book that I’ve ever read.

The two Space Marine chapters involved, the Novamarines and the Blood Drinkers, weren’t ones that I have overly familiar with, but Guy immersed me so completely in their character that I immediately wanted to start collecting Blood Drinkers. The nobility and tragedy of those true fallen angels, and the way that Guy wove little-known details (to me atleast!) from their lore into this book was a brilliant example of ‘’How It Should Be Done.’’

The bit where an unarmed, unarmoured Blood Drinker goes hand-to-hand with a genestealer takes my breath away just thinking about it now. What Guy also excels at here (and not just here) is the jaw-dropping immensity of the void, with missiles fired and then detonating minutes later and a soap-opera vastness fused to the bloody dark of the 41st millennium. I chose this book because it’s my personal touchstone.

This here, essentially, is what a Warhammer 40,000 book should be like.’’

THE STORY
Having tracked a genestealer brood across the sector, Chapter Master Caedis of the Blood Drinkers calls upon his old allies in the Novamarines to assist in the destruction of the space hulk designated Death of Integrity. But before they can unleash their plasma torpedoes, the Adeptus Mechanicus intervene and task both Chapters with a secretive mission into the heart of the hulk. With deadly xenos creatures seemingly lurking around every corner, Caedis treads a fine line between glorious victory and the damnation of eternal bloodlust carried by all sons of Sanguinius.
