When the ancient warship Wolf of Fenris emerges from the warp, Imperial forces find that it has been overrun by the dreaded Red Corsairs. However, this is no mere raiding party – Huron Blackheart and his entire renegade fleet soon follow, intent on conquering the Gildar Rift and tightening their grip on the sector. Lance batteries and torpedo salvos burn fiery contrails through the void, and only Captain Arrun of the Silver Skulls Space Marine Chapter can halt the renegades’ advance. The fate of the Rift will not be decided in the heavens but on the surface of Gildar Secundus below.

Great Read
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lawrence
Another great addition to the space marine battle series. Great to have a book on one of the lesser well known chapters and to see how they fight and operate, also good to see Huron Blackheart get in on the action as well.
Brilliant

Was looking forward to this book immensely and it didn't let me down! Wonderful mix of space battles and ground assaults, mixed with a good dose of intrigue and great characterisation. Huron was suitably evil, the Corpsemaster even more so. I eagerly await Sarah's next full length project!
Amazing

I was originally reading this because i like Huron Blackheart. But i was quickly drawn into many of the characters, there was several points in the book when i had conflicting feelings. Anyway this book was very well depicted and i look forward to more stuff from this author. The beginning was a bit slow but once you get over that it is amazing, even the beginning is good.
A very good read

Although it took off a little slowly, it picked up its pace soon enough and ended beautifully. The Volker Straub subplot was an interesting addition, the figure of Straub himself in the amniotic tank, hardwired in the Dread Argent was akin to a benevolent deity, reminiscent of the Emperor, Christ on the cross, Odin when hanging from Yggdrasil, Vishnu as the all-pervading essence etc. The characters of Huron and the Corpsemaster were well developed as was the tense relationship between the Prognosticators and the rest of the Silver Skulls. Looking forward to Sarah Cawkwell's next work.
Good book

A great read and really enjoyable book. A great cast of characters and a good storey line to go with it.
Very entertaining

It was enjoyable throughout the book. The only problem it became predictable at the end. I enjoyed the character of Huron Blackheart. I think many stories of him and the Red Corsairs can be written.

I got this as one of my first 40K novels to read, and impressed at the story and the characters are all compelling. My only sadness is the novel seems a bit short. Would love to see a 'round 2' for these groups to face each other again
