Following the trajectory of a blood-red comet, the berserk World Eaters blaze a path of destruction across the galaxy in its wake. The small cemetery world of Certus Minor appeals to the Space Marines of the Excoriators Chapter for protection, but the force dispatched to deal with this grim threat is far too small and their losses against the renegades are high. Just as all seems lost, salvation is borne out of legend itself as sinister spectral warriors descend upon this planet of the dead, and the enemies of the Imperium come face to face with those who have already travelled beyond the realm of the living...
"Rob Sanders hits the nail firmly on the head in his portrayal of just how bleak and dark this universe is." - Graeme's Fantasy Book Review on Redemption Corps

Just the way I'd imagined the Legion of the Damned working outside of the rules of the game, and great to see another stoic, personally indestructible Marine character. Keep going through the well-paced introduction and you'll be well rewarded at the end. "In dedicato deus imperatum ultra articulo mortis."

I would give it 6 or 7 stars if i could this is the best "Battles" Book since Helsreach and may just be better. If your not into e-books then you have to wait but it will be worth it no doubt
To much and To little
Rated 3 out of 5 by Stutzbach
First if your looking into insight into the mysterious Legion of the Damned, then you will be disappointed. I know, they are supposed to be an enigma, but wow! For a book bearing their name, it adds almost nothing. The title's hero is Zach Kersh an Excoriators Space Marine is hard as a coffin nail, and contemplative. The best parts are those written in the first person from Kersh. I know it's a battle book, but the chapter detailing the initial attack on Certus Minor was jam packed, and yet was boring to a point. The enemy was given a chapter, but what was the point? No character.
Legion of the damned

The book shouldn't be titled legion of the damned, it was a good read for sons of dorn basically but completely disappointing for a book titled Legion of the damned. Overall buy it but don't expect any expectations into the inner workings or fluff about the legion. Hopefully next time more then 25 pages will have legion of the damned in it
Overall good read, but.....

I liked the book, but really was expecting the Legion of the Damned to have a bigger role in the book. It was like others have said, you are basically reading a book about the Excoriators and the Damned really only come in at the end. That was a bit of a disappointment as I really wanted to read something substantial about them.
Great Characters.

Good read, not as much legion of the damned as you may want. Moving past that the story flows well, good set up of main character. Could have been more on the enemy motivation and characters. But i felt like the interplay between Kersh and his brothers was enouh for me to think it a good value read.

I enjoyed the book. But the book focused on the Excoriators Chapter and the protection of the cemetery world. I was hopeing to get to know more about the Legion of the Damned. The title should have been called the Excoriators.
A great read

Rob Sanders delivers a very good book, it's awesome, I liked his take on the Legion of the Damned, the way he portrayed them retains their aura of mystery. The way the Legionnaires appear reminds me of Altair appearing when Ezio is fighting against the Templars in the Revelations vid. They are difficult to work with since they're ghosts. They needed something to anchor them in, tie them to the story and the Excoriators proved to be great. A solid 5/5.
Legion of the Absent Damned
Rated 4 out of 5 by Alex
I'm just over halfway reading through this and have to say the title is misleading, as the Damned are hardly in it. The cover, title and the blurb on the back, all point to us reading about this mysterious chapter or legion, but nothing concrete about them has been told thus far. Instead it's all about the Excoriators chapter, who no-one's heard of! There is a constant allusion to the Damned, but as I'm at page 257 out of 413 pages with no action from them yet, I'm very disappointed. It's well written; has great battles, but don't buy it to read all about the Damned throughout the book.
Epic

The space marine battle novels just get better and better. Zach Kersh is a fantastic character who is not only battling his own demons, but his own chapter and well as the real demons from the warp. Loved this book and struggled to put it down. Awesome!!!

An Enigma Grown, An Enigma Still
Rated 5 out of 5 by Robert
Rob Sanders does an excellent job depicting the Legion of the Damned in this novel. When they finally appear at the climax, he expertly depicts how they fight: as apparitions that drive the enemy to hurt themselves as much as they are hurt by the Legionnaires. I particularly found it interesting how he expanded their influence OUTSIDE the battlefield. A Tzeenchian sorcerer would be appreciative. I wish Centurius had actually made an appearance, but at least he was still alluded to. The bit with the graves was INGENIOUS!
