Heroes: From Whose Perspective?

Rated 3 out of 5 by Paul

More of a plug for upcoming authors and their recent additions to the BL family than a showcase of talent. The FEW noteworthy stand-alone stories are: Renegade, an Avenging Sons fall into damnation cautionary tale. The Skull Harvest, an exeptional short story tie-in to the Ultramarine novels. Dylan Owen offers up an uncanny Black Legion/Imperial Fist mobius strip of a story that leaves you wanting more. Nick Kyme and Steve Parker offer up something of interest. However, Gauntlet Run arrives dead on its feet and lackluster. Everything else is just standard 40k rehashed fare.

Both evil and good ones are stuff of legend

Rated 5 out of 5 by Javier

I really enjoyed this one. Here we have a wide range of good writers, depicting some insight into the way astartes work. Some new names for me to search (Dylan Owen, Peter Fehervari) and some new jewels from the old ones (Thorpe, McNeill) make this book worthy of your attention.

This book will leave you wanting more

Rated 3 out of 5 by Brother Endeavour

This is the first Black Library book I have read and I would say it is an ideal starting point for readers who are new to the Black Library's 40K titles: it gives a good impression of the core essence of the Space Marines; highlights some interesting differences between the chapters of both loyalist and traitor marines; and features work by an excellent range of writers - many of which tie-in to other 40K series in the Black Library catalogue. Having read Heroes of the Space Marines you will definitely want to read more stories featuring the characters and by the authors from this book!

Light and darkness both

Quite an interesting book. Really nice and easy to read and appreciate also for foreign people. Some stories are based on great ideas and, even if short, they're well developed. It has been the first book of this kind and i think it's an idea to repeat.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden strikes again

Rated 5 out of 5 by Doelago

The book had both good, and not so good stories. The highlights of the book were "The Skull Harvest" by McNeill, "Fires of War" by Kyme and "One Hate" by no one else than Aaron Dembski-Bowden. These stories were so amazing that you cant stop reading them once you have started.
