Brilliant

This is without the doubt one of the best 40K books out there. The whole background to the Night Lords is simply amazing. Don't hesitate to get your hands on this novel.
The best depiction of the Night Lords yet
Rated 5 out of 5 by Derek C. F. Pegritz
Though I've enjoyed virtually all of the Space Marine novels I've read, these superhuman warriors often come across as very wooden, almost personality-less constructs. Not so here: the characters of the Night Lords and their servants come to life BRILLIANTLY in this novel, illuminating the terrible bitterness and tragedy at the heart of the Night Lords and clearly demonstrating that, though they be supermen, the Astartes are still *men*--people with histories, lives, dreams, and crushing disappointments. I can't recommend this one highly enough.
One of the best out there

Without the doubt one of the best Chaos related 40K novels out there. Night Lords are nothing like you have imagined. The background to the Night Lords is simply amazing. Loved every page of this book. Don't hesitate to get it. It's brilliant.
Good Read
Rated 3 out of 5 by Travis W.
This walk through darkness is worth the purchase. Soul Hunter showcases the tragic villainy of the Night Lords in a way that's human, yet at the same time leaves you in awe. The human characters within the story seem a tad tacked-on as much of the plot elements they bring along could have easily been managed by their Astartes counterparts. Additionally, the motivations for the characters near the end become a bit confusing, although the book leaves you begging for a sequel. Is Soul Hunter worth the buy? If you've read Lord of the Night, you're not going to read anything new but otherwise, yes.
A very good book

I really liked it a lot and thought it perfectly depicted the Night Lords. The only reason I give a 4 not 5, is because they don't really end the story of the battle for Crythe.
Not bad.

I enjoyed the story and the way Aaron works, but this is NOT about the Night Lords. They are just a little band of renegades, less than a hundred years from falling. They could be Imperial Fists go wrong recently. Same tactics, same weaponary, same everything. Go get "Storm of Iron" to know about CSM, or Anthony Reynolds trilogy about the Word Bearers. Even better: go get Spurrier´s "Lord of the Night". There is no chaos here at all. Quite a good reading, quite disapointing fluff-wise.
Top notch book from the Black Library's next superstar

Aaron Dembski-Bowden has done a fantastic job of creating a real sense of the duality that the unique Night Lords share. Being the first legion to split from the Imperium prior to the Horus Heresy their motives are far more complex than the other Traitor legions. The Night Lords depicted in this book are on the whole not chaos marines, the legion is driven by their hatred of the emperor and not worship of the chaos gods. If you are looking for a cut and dry book about rampaging slavering evil perhaps a look elsewhere is needed
Amazing

This is one of the BL best books, right up there with Storm of Iron, Dark Creed and Fulgrim. Ive admittingly never been 'into the Night Lords' so was reluctant to pick this up but i couldnt put it down when i did. Reading about how the chapter (or what remains of it) funtions and manages to endure is really something else. And the confrontation with the main char and Abaddon was stunning, not to mention the flash back to pre-heresy times. Read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Talos has turned into one of my all-time favourite characters. I'm looking forward to learn more about him and the remaining Night Lords.
Breathtaking

This novel is by far my favorite out of all of the warhammer 40k books I've read. The dark mysterious tone of this book kept me going straight to the end and I cant wait to get my hands on Throne of Lies
Really frikkin great!

I'll defo be checking out more from this author. I was never interested in the Night Lords but they are given such depth that I was totally drawn in. So good to see CSMs written as more than just evil killing machines.
Amazing

To think of the Chaos Space Marines as simply degenerated, psychotic killers is such a mistake... As it is proved to all of us in this book, they feel as men, they think as men, because in the end, they are men... more powerful, indeed, but men in the end. One of the most incredible books I have ever read.
Goes with Fluff, great view of the Night Lords

Great book, hard to put down. Finished it very quickly. Every thing I thought the night lords would be. Yes there is a lack of "Chaos" but it has a great view of WHY they don't like Chaos, and why they use Chaos. I started work on a Night Lord Army because of this book!
A great mixture of backgorund, action and fantastic characters

Simply great. After reading 'At Gaius Point' on the Blood Angels anthology, I thought Mr. Dembski-Bowen was a talentous writer. Soul Hunter only was the confirmation of my first impression. Talos is a great main character and he is surrounded by other interesting characters. The storyline is simple but really well-made and it shows in details how much different the Night Lords are from other chaos space marines. I'm really waiting for the nex book!
Perfect

Finally....here come the Night Lords!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Xhalax
I've always been a Night Lords fan, and FINALLY, thanks to Mr. Dembski-Bowden, we have a novel that actually showcases them perfectly. None of that god-awful, wishy-washy, 'woe-is-me', emo, whiney nonsense that Lord of the Night inflicted on the world, I was seriously angry at that book. But instead we have a bunch of hard-bitten, disenchanted, malcontent renegades that the Night Lords actually are. Brilliant characters, straight-foward, uncluttered storyline with a huge scope for more....and anyone who can tell Abaddon where to stick is offer is made of awesome sauce!
The human side of Chaos
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stephen
I am always tentative about picking up a BL novel by an author I haven't read before as the quality of the writing varies so widely. There really are only 2 or 3 authors in the BL stable whose prose is of a professional quality in my opinion, and I am happy to report that Dembski-Bowden is one of them. The writing is evocative and sophisticated with believable characters and (mostly) believable dialog. The depiction of the main character is tragic and surprisingly empathetic and human rather than purely evil. One of the few BL novels I had trouble putting down.
'He was no god. Perhaps not a man but never a god.'
Rated 5 out of 5 by Shakok
Stunning and moving Chaos novel! Aaron really make me feel pity and sorry for the doomed 10th Company of the Night Lords where they are fighting for survival and slowly facing extinction from the Imperium and themselves. Characters are first rated and it was good to introduce the major bad guy of Warhammer 40K 'Abaddon' into this story. Apart from that, we get a glimpse into what happened to their Primarch Konrad Curze and tying another novel 'Lord of the Night' the commander Sahaal into this story. I love the line: 'Weep as you suffer the same fate as your corpse god. We have come for you.'

the book was freaking amazing, with not only its background info on the night lords but also the relationship with eachother and about the current state of the Night Lords. I don't think anyone could say this book lacked...
