Salamanders

Salamander is a great book. Absolutely incredible. It delves into the background and personality of Salamanders' as a whole, as well as exploring the personalities of the individuals. The plot is incredibly involved, and each page is a gripping read. From and encounter with crazed servitors on a derelict Adeptus Mechanicus ship, to fighting Tyranid crabs and Orks on a long-forgotten world which is literally coming apart at the seams, the scenarios are incredible, yet so believable due to the very nature of Space Marines. I highly recommend this book for fans of loyal Space Marines of all kinds

Honestly I started out not liking this book but then I decided to give it another chance and I was glad I did. It starts off kind of slow but then it really starts to pick up, this book was really amazing, and now I cant wait until the next book which seems like it wont be coming out forever.
Salamanders

Having read the prequel in Heroes Of The Space Marines, I already had a feel for the characters and so was really looking forward to this. It does not disappoint!! This is definately Nick Kymes greatest work, and tackles one of the most enigmatic of Astarte's chapters, bringing them to life beautifully. The artwork is exceptional and the embossed printing style is the first indication of the quality you are getting for your money. This is an imaginative and gripping story, and hopefully this will be Kyme's equivilent of McNeil's Ultramarines series and will go beyond the Tomb Of Fire trilogy.

this book is the best book I have ever read, I might not have a lot to say but every time I read it it always puts me in the story, It was always making me wanted to read more, and when it put two space marine Sargent's, two of the emperors finest at each others throats it was a really good read, I recommend this book to space marine fans and chaos marine fans because of the awesome plot.

Nick Kyme is on a roll!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff Preston
Mr. Kyme starts it off with a bang: an action packed, emotional prologue that sets the stage nicely. The main characters are vivid, you can't help but get a very clear picture of them. Tsu'gan the noble-born hothead and Dak'ir, the low-born contemplative. Surrounding them are a number of very cool characters that are nicely fleshed out & make this a very characterful novel. The insight in to the Salamander Chapter is awe-inspiring. The finale is powerful, action packed & it left me anxious for more! Nick Kyme is on a roll! He's steamrolling his way thru the 40k 'verse & taking no prisoners!
Solid

Really, really strong SM novel. Now someone get over to the GW folks and have them start making Salamander shoulder armour bits again. :)
Exciting and a great story line

When I picked up this book, I was like "Its the Salamanders, how good could this really be?" but then Nick Kyme wrote a great book with a great storyline and that made it a exciting read. Also the story has tie in to the short story in Hero's of the space marines. Its almost like watching a movie. Great stuff, will definitely pick up book #2.
Not my favorite
Rated 2 out of 5 by chris
I very nearly didn't finish this book. The first 70 pages or so are devoted to something a space marine should never do: whine about the death of one marine. Somehow I just don't see how that could possibly be the pivotal point in several characters stories. I'll ignore the incredible number of spelling and grammar issues other than to say that you have to read this in order to read Firedrake; which is a much better novel.
