Great read

This book is "fan-damn-tastic". There are no slow points in the book. I can get bord with some books very easily, but not this one! It hooks you very quickly and then it's like a roller coaster ride until you hit the end. If you only pick up one book this year, pick up this one.
Excellent book

A fantastic book detatailing the fall of Rynns world, it was gripping and kept me enthralled all the way thought, Steve Parker never lost momentum and managed to keep the tension all the way though an excellent book for anyones collection
Cortez is back!

Brilient. Can mix strong human emotion of loss with incredibly comic moments fitted nicely in between, great start to the new theme of Space Marine Battles
Fleshing out the Crimson Fists
Rated 4 out of 5 by Myssa Rei
I haven't been a Warhammer 40k hobbyist as long as some of the old hands in the Bolter & Chainsword forum, but I'm familiar with the lore behind the Crimson Fists, no thanks to the posts of forum veterans. The Rynn's World campaign in particular seems to hold a special place in the hearts of those old timers, especially those who've been around since the wild days of Rogue Trader. As such, the book is a welcome treat, as it fleshes out the personality of the Chapter. Lore gaffes aside of course (like Cortez being at Rynn, Drakken being confused for Alvez, etc) but those are easily forgivable.

Still Lowering the Bar on 40k Talent

Stretched out, sputtering writing, countless mistakes, spelling errors, and duplicate words are just a few examples of this latest from BL publishing. BL mangers should get together, go outside, and hold up a sign on the corner that reads, "Desperately in need of a good editor!" For Rynn's World a 5th grader could have written a better crafted story. The material in the storyline is already somewhat in existance thanks largely in part to Games Workshop's past. This novel is the first to come in classic Space Marine Battles. Let's hope the next one's a better treatment.
Incredible

A fast pacing, full action packed story that brilliantly describes the illustrous chapter of the Crimson Fists. It does me good to say they aren't as foolish as they appear to be described in 'Soul Drinkers'. A great read, and a great chapter.

Good Book
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dave
Really great book, i collect the army so it's perfect for me. On the downside for me though is the lack of emotion in the writing compared to Helsreach the characters don't grab me by the throat as such,. Also fire the editor that many mistakes at this level shouldn't be acceptable. Good book just a could have been better.
Glad to see something new...

After reading many of the Warhammer 40k novels that revolve around the space marines it was nice to see a well put together story that tell the story of the Crimson Fist. Great work and it was a very enjoyable read with no down time for the Kantor and Cortez.
Pls write alternate ending - Steve Parker!

A fun read. Although there are a few mistakes in the continuity, the are barely noticeable. Recommended for any fan of the Crimson Fists or 40k in general.

When I first bought this book I was a little Apprehensive the war for Rynn's world had always been one of my favourite pieces of fluff in the Warhammer 40k universe it was what made me start a Crimson fist army so when I bought this I was a little worried that the Author would ruin it but when I read the book I was ecstatic the book was everything that I had hoped it would be and more. Characters were engaging and I loved it from the start to the finish all in all a brilliant book and I would heartily recommend it to any Warhammer 40K fan.

Not quite there

I liked this book, I didn't love it. It had everything you want from a Space Marine Novel and if you love Marines or Crimson Fists, then read it by all means. You will certainly get a lot out of it. There are undeniably cool characters, and fights. Its well written and a decent enough story, but for me it lacked something I can't put my finger on. It just doesn't quite add up to being an excellent book. Maybe its the style, maybe its because Crimson Fists were not my first 40k love. Whatever it is, the book suffered for it in my eyes, so only a 3/5.

fantastic, read it again as soon as i had finished it. Took me back to my first game of 40k, the legendary 'battle at the farm'. really impressed upon the difference between marines and normal humans. a great start to the series.

As someone who started playing 40k in the very first day of the "Rogue Trader" 1st edition Rynn's world and the crimson fist's survival hold a special place for me amoungst 40k cannon. This book did not let me down and it was great to finally read about the whole incident from before the invasion began until it's resolution.
Wonderful

Very well written. Im glad this isnt just another ork bashing space marines book tho. The book takes allows the reader to look at space marines not only as warriors, but as the protectors of the imperium. The characters are fleshed out well and they are not without their flaws, often comprimising their own egos and beliefs for the benefit of those mortal humans that venerate them and the emperor so faithfully.
Great starter
Rated 5 out of 5 by Xerxes
This was my first Space Marines book that I read, just after I began to read WH40K. I think that the book isn't just a "The Imperium Pwnz" type of story, because it gives you an up-close look at the personalities of the general Space Marine. I would recommend this as a great starter book for any beginner to the WH40K Universe.
Not quite done
Rated 4 out of 5 by Christopher
As a huge Crimson Fists fan I was super happy to see this story finally told. There is lots of nostalgia scenes like the battle of the farm (1988 Rogue Trader). But I wasn't enthused about how the book ended. It's a good sized book which abruptly ended without really tying up all the ends nicely IMO. I would have rather had the story be 2 books with a nicely closed story. Rynn's world is a fast read and I though it was exciting from start to finish. 4/5 because of ending.
Surprised and impressed

Hadn't read anything by Steve Parker before, or anything much about the Crimson Fists, but I loved this book. Will be looking for more by him!
