Captain Kor'sarro Khan of the White Scars is petitioned by his Chapter Master to hunt down and destroy the daemon prince Voldorius, a warleader of the renegade Alpha Legion, thus ending his reign of terror across the stars. Hunting the beast doggedly for over a decade, Kor'sarro finally brings Voldorius to battle on Quintus, a world that has totally given itself over to the Alpha Legion. Together with their Raven Guard allies, the White Scars must fight an entire planet if they are to slay the daemon prince.

Decent...but nothing special
Rated 3 out of 5 by udontwannaknow
This book is a decent read. Most importantly it was entertaining enough...story line was interesting I must admit, but the action sequences were nothing special. I felt that character introductions were not as detailed as I would expect from a 40k book.
Excellent

Excellent book. It was nice to see the Alpha Legion in another book, and the plot, characters, and writing was great. Recommended for any space marine/chaos space marine fan. I look forward to Savage Scars
Disappointing
Rated 2 out of 5 by George
To be honest I was really disappointed by this, because I am a big White Scars fan and had been really looking forward to it. Almost no background information on the 'Scars such as about Chogoris, previous hunts, why the Raven Guard and 'Scars don't like each other or about previous events during the current hunt. The action sequences are cartoonish and you dont really end up caring about the characters. Compare this to the excellent Helsreach, which features much better character development and action sequences.
Almost really great, but just ok instead

The "mortals" were believable and the chaos marines were awesomely written. The White Scars came across like something from Hagar the horrible though, really just too one dimensional and this spoiled it somewhat for me. The storyline was good though.
A bit of expansion of the Codex

Just told more detail of what is said in the Space Marine Codex.
Middle of the Road at Best
Rated 3 out of 5 by Dennis
Outside of the portions of this book told from the perspective of the Alpha Legion and their coerced human servants, this book was pretty disappointing. A brief glimpse into the Dark Age of Technology raised my hopes but the author chose to deal with it in a mundane, nearly passing fashion. Overall, just a series of generic battles with little character development or hints into two of the founding chapters.
Very entertaining.

I really enjoyed The Hunt. I could not put it down. As good as any of the space marine battle books. Keep up the great work. The story line very good and I enjoyed the Raven Guard and Captain Shrike.
Superb

I travelled to Games day '10 just to buy this book and I was not disappointed. Fast paced and ultra-violent, just as 40K novels should be.
cool, but a bit shallow
Rated 3 out of 5 by John
I know that this is the Space Marine "Battles" series, but I found this book a little too much of a straightforward action story. Very little background was given on the White Scars, which have a lot of unexplored potential. Voldorious' evil plan was very cool, but things ended in a rather anti-climactic way. The White Scars really didn't develop or come across as very deep. I found it abnormally dry for a Black Library book. It is my least favorite in an otherwise interesting and beautifully illustrated series.
