Fall of Damnos

Fall of Damnos
Fall of Damnos

When Damnos is hit by cataclysmic earthquakes, an ancient force is awakened. Deep beneath the earth, the necrons rise from their slumber to decimate the human populace. All appears lost until salvation comes from the heavens – the Ultramarines brave an orbital bombardment to deploy their forces on Damnos, led by two legendary warriors – Captain Cato Sicarius and Chief Librarian Tigurius.

They are the planet's last, great hope against the remorseless alien foes, but tensions within their ranks threaten to derail victory. As battle rages on Damnos, and the Ultramarines seek to defeat their soulless enemies, Tigurius receives a terrible vision – a vision telling of the death of a hero...

Looks Great

Rated 5 out of 5 by Andrew

Looks great. Finally another space marie battles book without orks. They're getting a bit boring being in 3 out of 5 space marine battles books ( Ryns World, Helsreach and The Purging of Kadillus ). Again looks great. Can't wait till April.

Necrons at last !

Nick Kyme does it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeff Preston

This is a damn fine read! Nick Kyme shows he can weave a tale and make Ultramarines, Necrons even Dreanoughts compelling as characters. HUZZAH! Any shortcomings in the plot were negligible. I only wanted MORE of it. Nick Kyme has a firm grasp of what it means to tell a tale in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium: characters die, and nobody is safe. Even the mighty are flawed and the smallest of characters can shine as brightly as a superhuman.

Surrender and Die !

A good intro for Necrons

Rated 4 out of 5 by christopher

This is a great way to show how the Necrons Lord think and there will most be done. The plot line was a bit tine on the grownd but if you are looking for a book that is full of killy death and that any one can die. This may be a book for you.

Couldn't put it down

Rated 5 out of 5 by Troy

I was very excited upon hearing about this book, after reading the other 3 about orks, and the other about chaos. (Both of which I enjoyed.) This was definitely a different direction going into one of the only books discussing necron's from their point of view, and them being one of my faves it was very enjoyable. I couldn't put this down from start to finish reading it in under a day, well done. Looking forward to the new Space Wolves coming out in a few months.

Almost there

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chris Carter

I didn't like NK's previous Ultramarines book & had the same expectation for this. To begin with I felt I was right (melta and plasma guns in 1 squad? NOT CODEX), the characters squabbling with each other and battling their own doubts much as battling the enemy; but it picked up well after a wobbly start and got into the action. The combat was all well done, and it was really good to see some proper character emerging from the Necrons too. Summary: Good but needed more polish and the proper ending.

a good rear but inconclusive!

I enjoyed reading it, it was written very well and no part was boring. battles and scene was described and painted very well. but i was very disappointed in the end and things are left open...It would have been so much more interesting if the time line was shorted a bit. dragged it out too much i think.

Necrons vs the 100!

Rated 5 out of 5 by West

This was a fantastic book that incorporated a lot of what the Ultramarine's are about. Also with Captain Cato Sicarius and Chief Librarian Tigurius leading the front made for a very impacting story. I did find the cheesie mention of the 100, which I found entertaining as a rag tag group that was suppose to fulfill a similar rule as that as the Spartans and their 300.

A great read

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lawrence

With the two opposing forces Necrons and Ultramarines ( your standard codex army) i was worried that it might the storey might be a little bland but it was any thing but. Nick paints a great picture of the Ultramarines and shows us that there is much more going on behind the scenes than we might think. Same also for the Necrons it was great to see it from their point of view for a change, rather than them just being the mindless machines we think they are, blindly carry out their assigned task we got to see a whole different side to them. This book is another great addition to series

Worth a look

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ed

An action filled story jam-packed with insights into how both the Necrons and the ultramarines function as a society. The human perspective is especially well treated, and overall, it's a good romp.

Battles? Awesome. Characters? Eh.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Drew

Overall the book is pretty good. I enjoy reading about the Necrons, and you just don't see enough of them in stories. Unfortunately, and this is a complaint I have with other 40k books, there are too many "main" characters throughout the book. The author never spends enough time building up the plight of some of the characters, so it's hard to get attached to any of them, and ever feel like they are in real danger. If you are looking for a book with a bunch of battles and fighting, then this is a good book for you. If you want to see character development, then I would move on.

We never yield, brother!

Apart from the written mistakes, it's a great story! Definetly worth reading.
