Commissar Cain is called to duty once more, saving a governor’s daughter from a planet over-run by rebels. The uprising hides something far more sinister however... The search for the source of the threat leads Cain to a drifting space hulk – a far safer place than beside the obsessed governor’s daughter. But when the Reclaimers Space Marines suffer devastating losses at the hands of the Great Devourer, Cain and his trusty aide Jurgen must go it alone. With the aliens waking and a group of stowaway orks on the loose, there are no safe places to run or hide, and Cain must use all his ingenuity and cunning to escape the space hulk alive.
'An engagingly roguish hero, and realistic combat at both the strategic and very personal levels. First-rate military SF!’ – New York Times bestselling author Dave Drake

Another fine Novel to read from this author, but I am not sure why it is for pre-order, as I own it as a hard-back already. The book is another fine example of the Cain's mishaps soon following his run in with the Necrons. The book is quite alright, but it feels as if you were missing something at the end.
A best of in WH40k fiction.

This book is some of the most fun I've had in Warhammer fiction ever! I can't believe I've been denying myself this series for so long. It's some the smartest writing set in this universe. Forget the Space Marine's, More Commissar Cain please! I love the annotations, they add such a wonderful addition to the writing. They also bring one of my complaints, in that they are situated at the end of the book in the E-version... I have since picked up the first omnibus and thankfully are positioned at the bottoms of the page. Gorgeous stuff... I can't wait to start devouring the ones I've missed
