Hardcovers are BAD

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kelly

I dont know how often or even if yall read these but on a shot here goes. STOP with the 300 page hardcover books. I really love most of the material yall publish however 20 odd dollars for such a short book is something i just dont do. Its just too short i can honestly sit in a book store and read it for free in about 3 hrs. I would honestly prefer to buy your books but when they are so short for so much.......see the problem? Anyway keep up the excellent writing and i'll still buy the paperbacks as soon as they arrive

Hardcovers are GREAT!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Clyde

...If a person does not want a hardcover book, then buy a softcover... or nothing at all! Only a person that reads magazines would want a softcover book. Dedicated and avid readers would buy a product for any price even if there were only two pages in it. It is the quality and enjoyment of the book that matters most... not the opinions of the weak minded. Maybe some readers should stick to comics! Keep the hard cover books coming... my library is getting nice and fat.

Softcovers

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gareth

The one problem with hard covers is they don't lend themselves to being an easy read. I agree that a hardcover preserves the book a whole lot better and looks really nice on a shelf but have you tried holding a hardback with one hand while drinking a cup of coffee with the other on a work break.... doesn't work. plus if you're taking your book away on holiday or a beach then it doesn't matter if it gets a little sand in it because it cost under £10 and not £30+. The material that the likes of Graham McNeil and Dan Abnett kick out is top notch and rocks in whatever format it's published in.

How about a choice for avid readers on a budget?

OK clyde you missed the whole point which probably happens a whole lot in your life. What i was trying to say is this. A hardcover under 500 pages is just not worth the extra money. If they put it out in a paperback the same day as a hardcover i would have no complaints but they dont it can take up to a year for those to arrive. Because of this i just read them for free in the book store. 300 pages is about 2 cups of coffee for me. I am not the one losing revenue its the authers themselves who loose out. As far as my library i own about 4000 hardcover and paperbacks can you say the same?

Reviews about the actual book and not the format its printed in are awesome!

Bringing the fight home...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jeff Preston

The Chapter's Due really brings this story arc to a brilliant close. Honsou brings the fight to Ultramar in a truly epic fashion. The cast of characters is huge, spanning several companies of Ultramarines. All the big names are here and have no doubt, the Ultramarines are sorely tested. Yet again Graham McNeill is at the top of his game, with a powerhouse of a yarn that will bring laughter and tears to the reader. It starts a hair slow, but gains momentum as it goes. McNeill's characterization is again AWESOME. The tactics are smart. The tension is palpable. Huzzah!

Excellent

Ok Ok i preached about the format when I should have been reviewing the book shame on me. Problem was the book was not out yet and I was feeling preachy lol now that I have read it it was a very enjoyable read McNeill's best since Warriors Of Ultramar

Ultramarines clearly are the best

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rosethorn

Yet again another fantastic book about the ultramarines and Capt Ventris, this is quite clearly the best ultramarines novel IMO i found it hard to put down Graham NcNeill kept the action coming, and on a final parting note this is a book review not a review on how its published whether its paperback or hardback who cares as long as the book is good which this was. 5 out of 5

GAH!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Steve

Certainly a book up there with Dead Sky and Killing Ground (sooo much better then courage) but I sense another Gaunt Epic in the making, we nearly had every plot line sealed off yet... Graham, please, when you have the brass balls to kill one of the empRAH's finest, LEAVE THEM DEAD!! It all got a bit eastenders towards the end there :-) oh and hardbacks for the win, I'm a snob and like my books in brick format.

fast paced and aggresssive

Rated 5 out of 5 by Taff

Outstanding book gripped from the first chapter.I thought showing that ultramar and the codex made them (Ultrmarines) very vunerable and predicable was brillant. That Honsou was a very capable leader.Although a spin off series i think would be mint .The fall of Ardaric Vaanes.Anyway i digress All in all a brillant read, and if you don't like hardback then wait for softback its that simple.

I've read every step of the uriel and the ultramarines saga thus far, and this was truely the best yet. Having the whole chapter and major characters in action across ultramar was a fantastic idea, and they were characterised brilliantly. I was swelling with pride throughout the last chapter and would follow Marneus Calgar to the ends of the universe myself... My only grumble is uriel struggles so much in every single fight he has! But hey i guess thats what makes it interesting! Best yet, cant wait for the next one. Hope to see more of Sicarius

Took less than 2 days to read and is the best book in the series by far. So many Ultramarines in one book is just AWESOME.The action just doesn't stop.
