Passed over to succeed as king, elf general Malekith is wracked by jealousy and bitterness. Under the pretence of rooting out the pernicious cult of pleasure that is corrupting elf society from within, Malekith plots his revenge. When he betrays Phoenix King Bel-Shanaar and attempts to seize power for himself, Malekith triggers a tragic sequence of events that plunges the realm of the elves into a civil war from which they will never recover.
Malekith begins the epic tale of the Sundering by Gav Thorpe, and continues the Time of Legends series.

Malekith
Rated 5 out of 5 by New Reader
This has been the 4th blacklibrary novel that I've read and it is by far my favorite of all. I started a Dark Elf army just because of how well Gav Thorpe creates Malekith and the druchii. I read Shadow King next to complete the Sundering but it left me wanting more stories of Malekith as The Witch King. My next read is Aenarion (Malekith's awesome father)
Oh how the mighty fall...
Rated 4 out of 5 by Jeff Preston
In the telling of Malekith, the reader rides the wave of the story, loathing the princeling, hoping for change, seeing him become wiser, understanding how he was raised, learning to sympathize with him and really hope he turns it around: hoping to blame someone else for his fall…which is inevitable. I hoped to blame the taint of chaos, his most wicked mother, the cults, the gods themselves. I wanted him to be redeemed and have his fall be due to an outside force. The ultimate failing the reader has to discover for themselves.
So thats why...

Loved the book, counldn't believe how much I loved it. When I stopped playing Warhammer I had been fielding a Dark Elf army for the better part of 10 years. So I thought this book would just be an overview of what I had already read and reread, not so. It was engaging, interesting and really brought an emotional aspect to the story of the Druchii. I was also impressed how well the second novel tied into the narrative. I can't wait for the thrid.

As a High Elf player/collecter i was if'ing and err'ing about getting this book for a long time.I even read Shadow King before it because i didnt want to read about high elves getting killed. But to my surprise Malekith wasnt the evil killing machine i thought he'd be from page 1. Gav Thorpe has clearly thought this whole thing through very deeply before writing these books and even though some high elves did die,i found the rich history in this book well worth the read
