The Dark King by Graham McNeill

The acts of terror and warmongering by Konrad Curze, Primarch of the Night Lords Legion, have earned the ire of his brother primarch, Rogal Dorn. Wracked by terrible visions of the future, Curze is driven insane and attacks Dorn, setting the Night Lord on an inexorable course towards eternal damnation.

The Lightning Tower by Dan Abnett

Rogal Dorn, Primarch of the Imperial Fists Legion, faces a stark reality – he must tear down the magnificence of the Emperor¹s Palace, a shining beacon in a galaxy of darkness, and turn it into a fortress. With the army of Horus drawing ever closer, as he blights the Palace with gunports and defence towers, Dorn must face a difficult question, 'What are you afraid of?'

Why release it as audio?

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bas

Forgive me if I am being ignorant or ranting. But I suspect many people would love to get hold of this product as a book? I mean, Konrad Curze, and Rogal Dorn are about to be described in detail and it's being released on audio? I'm rather dissapointed.. Hope you guys will release it in a novel.

"CURZE!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!"

Rated 4 out of 5 by Daniel

This product was done as a book, for those who attended Games Day it was released as a Limited Edition chapbook, one of which I am the proud owner of. And having read it, I felt a bit disappointed with the audio. For one I imagined the Primarchs to have much more presence in their voices, especially the Emperor, beloved by all. There was also a moment between Dorn and Curze which when I had read it I interpereted to have a different emotional aspect... However, on the whole it is a great addition to anyones HH collection and is great for listening to whilst painting. My voice is available ha!

should be audio and book

Rated 4 out of 5 by Artimus

I thought Gav Thorpes Ravens Flight was good, but Mr McNeil and Mr Abnett have really excelled on these two stories. I have always been a fan of there 40K writing. This audio book really comes to life, the back ground noise and the character acting within the story is great. However, I think these stories would be even better in a book, telling the complete tale of Heresy on the part of the characters involved...... In general I use the audio book for relaxing, and they give me great ideas when I am painting models and or doing some computer art work

This was awesome..nuff said

Honestly I don't know why so many people are complaining about this being on audio book when they are the same ones requesting a movie. Listen, this was a great audio book better then most I have herd. Danny Webb's voice was perfect, listening to him speak in the way the Characters do really put me in the world of the Imperium. So I don't understand why people are having a hard time excepting it for what it is. Dam good voice acting, Really great story's and I want to hear more audio books soon. Thanks Black Library.

Inside the minds of the Primarchs

Rated 3 out of 5 by Brother Endeavour

Both of these stories are excellent background to the Horus Heresy. More psychological that action-based, they provide some fantastic characterisation of the Space Marine Primarchs Rogal Dorn and Konrad Curze. I would agree that Danny Webb's performance of some of the dialogue in these stories does come across as a bit forced; but I would add that I thought he read the rest of the text beautifully. I found the audio book format to be an ideal way to collect two stories as short as this and would thoroughly recommend The Dark King and The Lightening Tower to anyone who enjoys the Horus Heresy.

WHO CARES?

Rated 4 out of 5 by James

Not perfect but who cares? It's not often you get inspirational characters brought to life in this manner and the acting was superb. Frankly, the audio books BL are doing all sound good, so why should people complain? Oh yeah, Emperor beloved by all??? Daniel...please....

An excellent audio-drama to every 40k fan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bat winged Skull

Perhaps the voices portraying the Primarchs and the Emperor weren't what I exactly thought of, it's still some amazing tale. The sheer thought of vocalaising the Heresy is a great idea, and I'm gald I got to listen to these two stories. As a Night Lords fan I was also quite taken by Curze's portrayl-not like the rest of the Lords after the Heresy. You can see that he has a sense of justice not unlike that of Dorn's, but because of his past experiences and isolation by his brother's, he descneded to a most horrible fate... Just keep producing more audiobooks!

In my minds eye

Complain and your sole shall be racked by chaos. Uphold the EMPERORS Cause and steel your mind against those among us who's doubtful thoughts lead to heresy> Every one has an opinion I personally like anything to do with the HH collection so BL KEPP IT COMING

Left me wanting more

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fredric

I love the Nightlords, and I loved how in this audiobook we were given insight into the mind of Curze himself. The Lightning Tower was also good, and Danny Webb's voice sets the mood perfectly. The only thing I'm sad about is that there probably wont be any more HH books on the Night Lords :(
