The Black Library | Bringing the worlds of Warhammer and Warhmmer 40,000 to life!
Watford Signings
On 9th September 2006, hordes of Warhammer fans descended on Games Workshop stores around the world. Each person had just one aim - to be amongst the first to get hold of the brand new edition of Warhammer! The fans visiting Games Workshop Watford in England had another, extra special reason for visiting their Games Workshop store that day - the arrival of three Black Library legends!

Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill and James Swallow threw caution to the wind and braved the tyranid-like fans to sign copies of their books and take part in a Q&A session. Fans began queuing from 11.00 to meet the authors, even though the signing didn't officially start until 13.30. As the minutes ticked slowly towards the allocated time, Dan, Graham and James took their seats, picked up their pens and braced themselves. Over 130 people poured through those floodgates and for the next hour and ten minutes the authors furiously scribbled their names and spoke to fans about projects past, present and future!

All too quickly, phase one of the day was over and after a quick coffee, we rushed headlong into phase two - the Q&A session. Now usually we're beset by questions such as "When is the next Uriel Ventris novel coming?" "Why did you kill off <insert name of favourite character here>?" and "Your Blood Angel novels rock!". Watford seemed to attract a more thoughtful crew as the questions included "How do the authors handle the dichotomy between good and evil in the Warhammer 40,000 universe?" Unfazed, the author's leapt in with insightful musings and explanations.

With their curiosity sated, the big hand ticked towards 16.30 and the day drew to a close! With a few last minute signings taking place, the authors bid a fond farewell to the Harlequin Centre in Watford and the great crowd of fans who made the day so special!

Big thanks go to Dan, Graham and James. Also to Sam Sedghi of Games Workshop Watford and the Area Manager Andy Wheale for making us all so welcome!
