Bobby Wong won the 2001 Golden Demon awards Slayer Sword at the US games day with his magnificent Bloodquest squad. We invited him to tell us how he went about producing these amazing models and heres what he said ...
Replicating Scout-Novice Proteus is quite simple. In the Bloodquest comic, Proteus often runs into battle with Cloten, who has become a sort of grumpy mentor to the Scouts. I chose an appropriate running Scout with Bolt pistol and Combat knife, #010108801. To give the miniature the shaven head of Blood Angles Scouts, I filed off the hair on the miniature, being careful not to damage the communication headset already sculpted on. I then smoothed off the file marks with sandpaper (emery paper) and added an antenna to the headset.

Since all the other characters in my squad were in action poses, it fell upon Lysander to carry the banner.
I chose Scout # 010108804, because of the standing pose. This miniature was altered in the same way as Proteus
with a shaven head. I then sawed off the entire right arm below the shoulder pad, and glued a bent metal paper
clip in its place. This paper clip is a wire armature for the new right arm holding the banner. I hollowed out the
fist of a plastic Tactical Marine right hand, and glued it onto the paper clip armature. I then placed a thin layer
of greenstuff over the wire armature, and when it was dry, I added a second layer of greenstuff, sculpted with random
folds for the sleeve. I also sculpted a gauntlet and added a plastic skull icon to it. A brass tube for the banner pole was then fitted through the hole in the right fist, and a Blood Angels standard top was pinned to the top of the banner pole.
