Promising indeed.

The concept is exiting and new (for me at least) and just one of these things i hoped would be released one day. I will definitely buy this one when other books are released.

Brilliant

Have beenwaiting for one of these for ages. Could be a little longer and less hard! (though it does get you perfectly into the role of an average guardsman against the universe) but absolutely amazing, great fun. Can someone tell me how to use the medipack that you get? I found one but never got told how/when to use it?

Brilliant & immersive: classic game books glorious return

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mark

last week I was thinking about early 90's when I discovered RPG's and great "adventure games" like Joe Dever's Highway Warrior or Lone Wolf Series. Then started to wonder: why the heck GW or BL never released such great books in Warhammer Universe? Next day found The Hive and here it is finally! Ordered, recieved, started to play. Its amazing and very immersive. Definitely worth every penny. I just hope that "gaming books" series won't end on this one (did not found anything in coming soon section) I will buy every one book from this series.

It is really fun and very entertaining. Reminds me of the choose your own adventure books when I was younger only more in depth and more fun. Using a D6 to play while reading the battles is ingenious. Very easy to learn but hard to master.

VERY GOOD

if you like adventure books and 40k BUY THIS BOOK

Good start but...

I used to love these type of books back in the 80's. So i was really psyched about this. And it was fun. But! The problem is the combat system. It's kinda like normal 40k combat. But you're just one basic guardsman and you have to fight EVERYONE. Guardsmen have such a crappy stats that even zombies give you hard time. So 85% of the difficulty comes from uphill dicerolling and not the choices you make. Just one fight after another and you hardly get any gear in between. Playing as Commissar or something with better stats would have made better balance to fights. But keep more books coming!

this book brings us rather fll circle, as the founders of gamesworkshop used to write choose your own adventure books before creating GW

Interesting adaption

I liked it as a change from the norm, was a little confused about shooting guns though. Good book lots of restarting though!
