Mind blowing....

Even though I'm not yet familiar with the Night Lords Series' plot, as a fan of the Night Lords I really enjoyed this audiobook. The overall was plot was good, and I like the idea presented in the story. Moreover, the vocalisation of the story and the use of special effects was vivid, and blended well with the plot. Although the price does seem to be a bit over the top.
Excellent stuff

For fans of Mr. Dembski-Bowden's other works, particularly Soul Hunter, Throne of Lies is another fantastic entry well worth the price of admission. The voice acting is top notch, the production values are phenomenal, and the story is so compelling that it never drags or feels forced. Like "The Dark King/Lightning Tower" and "Raven's Flight", this is another proud addition to Black Library's retinue of audiobooks. My only "complaint" as it were, is that the ending feels just a tad rushed. I would have loved to know what Talos was thinking at the end of the story.

Top notch voice acting and sound effects. I haven't listened to a bad audio novel from the black library yet.
Throne of Lies
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brugaril
I agree whole heartedly with Nathan's summary that the Black Library hasn't yet dropped the ball on the audio renditions of their books. If the present is any indicator I should say that I am certainly looking forward to what will be forthcoming with audio productions in the future. I can agree that price is a consideration, but quality and price go hand in hand, so I won't object much while I am so thoroughly entertained. What I would love to see is a reproduction of past greatest sellers in an audio format. With that said, bravo for a job well done as it seems.
Filler... but good filler
Rated 4 out of 5 by Phoebus
This story doesn't ultimately do much to continue the storyline of the characters introduced in "Soul Hunter", but it's interesting enough on its own. The narrative is solid and entertaining, but the sound effects sometimes make following the story difficult (I had to rewind quite a few times). The use of voice distortion for Astartes characters was... a bad choice. The end result was they all sounded alike, which made for a distraction. The rest of the voice acting was apropos. All in all, a story that would have been excellent in any 40k novella, made more immersive via audio effects.
Spotlight on the Night Lords

This is the second 40K story by Aaron Dembski-Bowden I have read/listened to and on both occasions I have found his work very impressive. His story telling is dynamic, yet uses a 'less is more' approach in terms of flat-out action to good effect. I also enjoy how he weaves different elements of the 40K universe together. However, I would add that Throne of Lies is a story the listener will get a lot more from if they have some prior knowledge of the Night Lords and Konrad Curze as it makes direct reference to some pivotal events in the chapter’s history. A good purchase - after some research!
Throne of Lies

I think this is the best audio drama Black Library has released thus far. Aaron Dembski-Bowden is an excellent story teller emphasizing mood & dialogue over mindless gun fights, and John Banks & Beth Chalmers did an amazing job with the voice overs, really bringing the characters to life. Kudos to everyone involved!
Worth every second!!!

The end is the best. Well I hope I don't tell to much, but the end was really emotional (well weeping Night Lords)if this is fitting for those.
The ending was touching...
Rated 4 out of 5 by karima
I only give this a four because if you didn't know about the background about the night lords the ending would have less meaning. Also the sudden, abrupt ending almost made me think something was wrong with my download! Other than that the story, sound effects, and the plot was good.
Wow

At it’s core it’s a very simple tale. An assassin is sent to dispatch an anti-Imperial zealot slowly turning his population from the Imperium. The assassin is captured by First Claw and tortured to give up a piece of information. The beauty of the tale is the brutality and sheer horror that Aaron Dembski-Bowden brings to proceedings. He has a delightful tone and seems to truly thrive (if not indeed live) in the 40K Universe. The language, scenery, and scope of each of his pieces is excellent, and this is no exception. Awesome stuff.
Outstanding! please sir can i have some more?

Throne of Lies is one of the best audio books i have ever heard infact all of these audio books have been great and i have a very large amount of audio books mostly star wars but they have something lacking vs the work done by black library. I loved the last lil bit of Throne of Lies the Vox effects are fantasic infact all the sound effects are awesome and the Voice acting is second to none! 5/5 A++
A fine addition
Rated 4 out of 5 by Jason
Black Library has done a good job with their audio books and "Throne of Lies" continues that tradition. While the audiobook does not quite continue the story ark started in "Soul Hunter", it is a good stand alone addition to the overall Night Lords background. Mr. Dembski-Bowden is now one of my favorite authors from Black Library. And to top it all off, it's got a wicked awesome title to boot - and that's coming from a Loyalist.
I whant more!!!!!!!!!

Beside some of the best voice acting and sound effects the story is incredible. Made my feeling stir for the night lords. There are many great audio dramas but some how this one to me stood a stepabove the rest and im not a fan of the night lords, althought im having a new found respect for them and there "struggle". I suggest reading soul hunter (or going to someweb site to check out the night lord`s) to truly apreciate this one.
More of Those Voice Actors
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lindsey
Story was excellent, as everyone else's reviews indicate. But what I really enjoyed was the different use of personnel other than Toby Longworth who seems to be the standard now. Give us more of John Banks and Beth Chalmers! Write another Fireborn where the Adeptus Soriritas can actually speak and use Miss Chalmers! Heck, if Mr Longworth and Mr Banks were both used then I would find it easier to concentrate on the male dominated audio dramas as the voices would be more distinguishable.
Best Audio drama so far

A great addition to the overall W40K legacy. Excellent story and well performed. I think this one makes my top 3 list.
Amazing.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden does it again. This audio drama was nothing short of amazing. Filled with good sound effects, heart pounding music and amazing dialogue, this should be a must buy for any 40k fan.
Awesome Pie

I really enjoyed listening to this. The voice acting as great, the special effects were great and the plot was great. More than anything, the ending had emotiona impact despite me being completely unfimiliar with the general story behind the series, and. normally, being strictly a fan of the Imperium. I found this to be a great re... well, listen? Very enjoyable.
