The novel starts out with a bang and really never lets up. One thing that I feel sets a good novel apart from a great one is having characters that are fallible. Putting it mildly, the characters in this novel are all flawed in one way or another. T here are some fun twists and exceptional descriptions of the setting. Actually, the description of the empire from top to bottom is the best I’ve seen yet; especially the description of Altdorf and the other main cities. Brilliant! Blew my doors off. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

this novel is probably one of the best books i have ever had the pleasure of reading, it contains everything , combat , twists and a amazing storyline for the characters , many of the characters being different really sets the tone for the perfect novel , and this nails it on the head can not wait for the next one !

Full of action, full of in depth description of the Empire, a great look at the inner politics and inner mind of someone I'd never really took an interest in, can't wait for the follow on book, Sword of Vengeance.

Having read most of the BL books released over the years I can honestly say this is the best! The battle/fight scenes are brilliantly written, the characters are all believable (you actually get quite attached to them) and the plot is deep, dark and full of twists. I look forward to the sequel because I really want to see the villains get what's coming to them.

This is one of the best books I've ever read, it's got it all. Brilliant writing style, characters, plot, and setting. It's writen in a way that ensures you seldom put it down. Every page you read makes you want to read the next. If you have not bought this book yet, stop what you're doing......take a deep breath and then run as fast as you can in the general direction of your local book store and buy it. I suppose you could drive, but thats not as dramatic. Oh and if you already read this book READ IT AGAIN!!!
