Although I haven't read this novel yet, I am assured by my partner that this is a fantastic read. My partner has never read any 40K or Warhammer Fantasy fiction before and this was a gift to her from me in order to introduce her to Black Library. She says she loves it, and despite her dyslexia (which usually puts her off reading at all) she finds it easy to get into, the characters are captivating and the story (so far, as she hasn't finished it yet) is fascinating. So thanks Nathan Long for helping me convert my partner, now I can read my 40K novels before lights out and she can too :)

Awesome =)

I had only purchased this book because it branched off from the Gotrek & Felix books of which i read all of them and to my surprise it was actually a fantastic book! The story kept me hooked the whole way through, cant wait for the next one

Disappointing........for some.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Matt

I can’t say I’m very impressed with this book, it was painfully predictable. The characters and background were all very enjoyable and I will even be picking up the next one in the series. I was hoping for far better partly because this was the first Warhammer book my partner has read and ………….she loved it! She said that it was most likely the best introduction into The Black Library. She also told me I have not idea what I’m talking about “cause’ it was a damn good book!” She also said she gives this book 5 out of 5!

Outstanding

At first, I thought Long was was going to run Ulrika into the ground like he did with the Slayer saga, but, I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. In this day in age were there are so many vampire stories that are leaning towards kid and little girl friendly, it was nice to see things from a classic vampire's perspective. Ulrika and her mentor Countess Gabriella make an awesome tag team in this 'Who done it' story full of intrigue, mystery and betrayal set in the gritty city of Nuln. Beauty, brains, and a serious sword arm; Ulrika has it all. Ulrika! Kill'em all baby!

Wow....just WOW!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Xhalax

When I finally got around to reading this novel, I saw that the praise that had been heaped upon it by others was correct and well deserved. Though not a Warhammer fan and having read none of the Felix and Gotrek books, I didn't find myself isolated by the gaping holes in my background knowledge as Mr. Long crafted a story that put us squarely in the place of Ulrika, the main character and her journey is as much our own as it is hers in the world of the Lahmians. Pacy and enthralling with a slight heartbreak for me at the end, but I can't wait for next year and Bloodforged!

Simply great

What can I say, just WOW. This book is simply wonderful and if like me you are a big fan of the vampire counts it gives you a great look at the lahmian sisterhood. Defo for warhammer fans 5/5!
