Exclusive prequel novella to the Soul Drinkers series by Ben Counter.
Held prisoner by the Imperial Fists and on the brink of being condemned by their fellow Astartes, the once proud Soul Drinkers are a pale shadow of what they once were. Daenyathos is the story of how, over millennia, the seeds of their damnation were sown and how a single corrupt librarian became a canker at the very heart of a Space Marine chapter.

Awesome story, artwork and novella

This novella blows Iron Warrior away. Its story is excellent, revealing so much about the Soul Drinkers, and its artwork is extraordinary. Looking forward to the next entry in this series.
That was fast!

Although today is th 16th on july and the books already lies next to me on the table, I still can see the "pre order" button and "August 2010" … you gus are really faster than your own reality. Must be some kind of warp magic. As I haven't read the story yet, I can only judge the book by it's cover and a quick look through the pages. It's great that you design each of the collectors editions books different! You really work hard on them. But … imho the Warhammer 40k Logo on the book jacket doesn't fit to the great design if the rest. Leave it away on the next book, please!
Daenyathos

This book is very well written, with a great and tragic storyline. My only regret is how they seem to just want to rid themselves of the chapter. It is such a shame that has taken the series to its end for there can be no escape, the Soul Drinkers are done, a shame they had to make such seemingly foolish choices. This book at least lets you see what brought the sort of thinking that will lead you to heresy. Cold and fast....

Great backround story. Leaves me with the same feeling from Hellforged of wanting more and to understand more. Awesome. Recommend for any Soul Drinker fan. Please write another story soon.
A Befitting Climax
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simon
This is a very in depth prequel to the Soul Drinker Series penned by the brilliantly imaginative writer Ben Counter. Daenyathos tells the story of the man himself. From the first page the novella jumps into action gripping you as the reader instantly the story unfolds over the course of Daenyathos’s antics within the chapter. One can’t help but feel sorry for a proud chapter of Rogal Dorn’s gene-seed in the poor choices they made, throughout the whole of the series all they do is fight for the Emperor, and yet the seem to always make the wrong choices in the wrong moments and thus find themsel
I only wish it was longer

This book ALMOST " not entirely" puts all others to shame. it is a blunt and honest view of a space marines life, and an overall chapters existence . Ive read the soul drinkers from book one, Ben Counter never fails to impress me, he is consistent with his characters and his stories. This book was extremely well written, and thoroughly thought out. Best book from BL Ive read yet.
A must have but hard for a U.S. fan.

This book is a must-have for anyone with a 40k library. Awesome story, and great illustrations. Ben Counter's writing style is very good and makes for a great read. My only complaint is that a US fan will be paying about $70 for a 128 page book and that's with the exchange rate relatively pretty good at the moment. That's a scary thought even though its a wonderful book. Even I almost didn't buy it in the end.
Black Library cares
Rated 5 out of 5 by Oscar
There is no doubt that this is another great work from Ben Counter just like there is no doubt that Black Library is gouging their customers. They know that fans want every piece that they can get from their favorite series and many fans will pay outrageous prices. So just like with Iron Warrior, I'm paying an arm and a leg for being a fan of Black Library products. I don't need a collectors edition, I just want the story. Thanks Black Library!!! Thank you for being greedy and rewarding the loyalty of your fans with a slap in the face.
Daenyathos

I'm judging this book by its cover now since I wont read it till I'm done with False Gods. Very nice dust jacket and hard cover. Pleased with the sketches inside, but I wish some colour artwork had been included, at least a page or two. This is a Collector's Edition after all, and didn't come cheap, especially with the postage. That it's signed and numbered is another plus. I hope the story's the cat's whiskers but I'm sure I'll enjoy it, just as I do most of the Black Library titles. But next time, please include some colour artwork.

bottom line: f-ing awesome! thats all anyone needs to say. i get it, theyre expensive. i agree. if you dont like it, dont buy it! to all the wonderful minds at bl: abaddon bless you! the book was in the same style as the uplifting primer and the munitorum manual, which equals awesome, the drawings are rough and beautiful, and the story is absolutely unparalleled. i didnt make it to iron warrior, but im on board for anything after daenyathos. you guys did a great job. i hate the price too, but ill keep buying them. who needs money or a gf? make the next one really good!
