Continuing our Games Day UK countdown, here is the opening of Chris Wraight’s ‘The March of Doom’, his Luthor Huss short story from the Games Day Anthology 2011/12, available to buy on the day.
“Mathilde screamed.
Her flabby body shook and her lips rippled. Spittle flailed into the air, glistening like pearls.
The men and women around her screamed too. Ragged arms punched up, clad in scraps of filth-soaked wool and leather. Fists clenched knuckle-white and veins stood out on necks like rigging ropes pulled tight.
They weren’t afraid. They had forgotten how to feel fear.”
If you enjoy ‘The March of Doom’, you won’t have to wait long for more Luthor Huss– Chris’s novel about the dour warrior priest and his ragtag followers will be available in February 2012.
Games Day UK is in Birmingham on the 25th of September. Tickets are available from games-workshop.com. Next Tuesday, we’ll have another extract from the anthology, this time from the war-torn world of Armageddon in Nick Kyme’s ‘Emperor’s Deliverance’
