Ian Watson recieved screen credit for the Screen Story of Steven Spielberg's movie A.I. Artificial Intelligence, on which Ian worked previously with Stanley Kubrick. Playboy published his reminiscences.
Ian started writing science fiction as a way of staying sane while teaching in Tokyo years ago, after living in East Africa, and his first SF novel, The Embedding, won the French Prix Apollo in translation. His books have appeared in 13 languages so far. In 2001 Ian mutated into a poet when DNA Publications issued his first books of poetry, The Lexicographer's Love Song; and Golden Gryphon Press also published his 9th story collection, The Great Escape. Currently Ian is co-editing an anthology to help save the Asian Elephant from extinction.
